Female Rhinoplasty
Your Reasons for Considering Female Rhinoplasty
Female rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly sought out procedures in Sydney. It can be suitable for women who are unhappy with the appearance of their noses from an early age. The procedure changes the shape and size of the nose with the intention of giving it a more balanced appearance between all of the facial features. Results may vary, and the possible aesthetic risks and benefits can be discussed with Dr Shahidi beforehand. Another reason why a woman may seek rhinoplasty is to correct breathing irregularities. Sometimes birth defects, trauma, or accidents lead to impaired breathing functions.
Why Choose Dr Shahidi for Your Female Rhinoplasty in Sydney
For many women, having rhinoplasty – also called a female nose job – is a day surgery procedure. But, it isn’t the same experience for every patient. Whether you have the procedure for aesthetics or to correct breathing function, you need a surgeon who will assess your situation and make well-informed recommendations for you. Getting the desired outcome from any corrective surgery begins with an assessment of the patient’s physical and mental health, along with their emotional maturity.
Female rhinoplasty requires a skilled facial plastic surgeon who is trained and experienced at performing rhinoplasty on women successfully. Dr Shahidi has undergone extensive training in this area. He trained in Australia and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). This distinction is only given to trained surgeons who have completed a minimum of medical and surgical education, including at least five years of postgraduate training.
In addition to achieving this fellowship reflecting his extensive training in ear, nose & throat, head, and neck surgery, Dr Shahidi is also a member of Australasia and European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS, EAFPS).
Dr Shahidi has an extensive portfolio containing pictures of successful rhinoplasty surgeries for women in Sydney. He has performed thousands of successful rhinoplasties since he entered private practice in 2003. The first step towards undergoing successful female rhinoplasty is to find an appropriately qualified rhinoplasty surgeon such as Dr Shahidi. Is Female Rhinoplasty Right for You?
All noses aren’t the same, and neither are the reasons that their owners consider rhinoplasty. Some women want a specific portion of the nose changed, while others want the overall size of the nose changed. Some of the common reasons women consider rhinoplasty include a desire to:
- Decrease or increase the overall size of the nose
- Change the width or shape of the bridge
- Remove a hump
- Improve the appearance of the nose and the upper lip
- Change the tip
- Change the size or shape of the nostrils
- Improve symmetry
- Correct nasal problems
- Correct deformities that occurred at birth or due to injury
If you’re considering rhinoplasty, contact us to schedule a consultation. Dr Shahidi will consider your medical history and talk with you about your reasons and expectations from the procedure. Dr Shahidi uses computer-imaging software that will show you the potential results you might achieve if you decide to have the female nose job (rhinoplasty) performed.
What to Expect at Your Rhinoplasty Appointment
During your consultation, you will learn your potential options for rhinoplasty surgery. Once you decide to go ahead with the procedure, our team will schedule a surgical booking for you at one of our two affiliated hospitals. Dr Shahidi works at North Shore Specialist Day Hospital in Greenwich/ St Leonards and Lakeview Private Hospital in Bella Vista.
A few weeks prior to your surgery, you will have a pre op appointment with Dr Shahidi and our team where we finalise the details of your surgery and what to expect on the day, tell you how to prepare and how to look after yourself post operatively and complete any paperwork. This is a great appointment to help patients feel at ease prior to surgery.
A few weeks later, when you arrive at the hospital for your surgery, following assessment by the nursing team, anaesthetic doctor and Dr Shahidi, you will receive general anaesthesia. Most patients can go home a few hours after the procedure with the assistance of a trusted family member or friend. Those who require additional treatment or more extensive care will stay overnight at the hospital.
Dr Shahidi will apply internal and external splints to support the shape of your nose as it heals. These splints are usually removed within 7 to 10 days after the procedure. The staff will provide necessary medications and pain relief as needed. You’ll get the first glimpse of your new nose when Dr Shahidi’s nurse removes the splints, but the appearance of your nose will continue to improve for months or even years after your surgery.
