How much is an initial consultation with Dr Shahidi?
The fee for a primary rhinoplasty consultation with Dr Shahidi (Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, MED0001167352) is $350, payable at the time of booking. Payment can be made via credit card or direct deposit.

• A valid GP referral and Medicare card must be presented at the appointment, including for consultations relating to cosmetic concerns, in accordance with Ahpra guidelines.
• If you do not hold a Medicare card, or are not covered under Australian Medicare, an additional fee of $105 will apply on the day for nasal endoscopy as part of the assessment.
• Patients with a valid referral, Medicare card, and relevant functional concerns may be eligible for a $84 rebate from Medicare.
• If you need to reschedule, please provide at least two full business days’ notice to transfer your consultation fee.

Yes. All rhinoplasty procedures are performed in an accredited hospital setting under general anaesthesia. Dr Shahidi operates at:

Yes. Rhinoplasty procedures are performed in a hospital setting under general anaesthesia, administered by a qualified anaesthetist. This will be discussed during your consultation, including any associated risks and what to expect on the day of surgery.
A second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner is recommended before proceeding with surgery.

Rhinoseptoplasty is typically performed as a day procedure, and most patients are discharged a few hours after surgery. However, an overnight hospital stay may be recommended based on individual medical circumstances or if post-operative support at home is limited.
All patients will be assessed pre-operatively to determine the most appropriate care plan.

• A medical certificate is generally issued for up to two weeks off work, depending on individual recovery.
• Nasal splints are typically removed around 8 days after surgery.
• Many patients feel comfortable returning to work or social activities within 10–14 days, although swelling or bruising may persist beyond this period.
• Post-operative reviews are generally scheduled at around 6 weeks, with additional follow-up appointments at 6-month intervals for up to 18 months, depending on clinical need and healing progression.

Dr Shahidi has clinical experience in open structured rhinoplasty—a surgical approach that involves reshaping the nasal framework using cartilage grafts. These grafts may be sourced from the patient’s own tissue (such as septal, ear, or rib cartilage) or from irradiated donor rib cartilage (allografts), depending on clinical need. This technique is generally considered when structural support is required and may be more extensive than traditional reductive rhinoplasty.

Yes. A referral is required for both functional and aesthetic assessments.
If your concerns relate to a medical issue—such as breathing difficulties or nasal trauma—a referral from your general practitioner (GP) is necessary to determine clinical need and may allow you to access a Medicare rebate. Your GP will assess your symptoms and decide whether a referral is appropriate.

An in-person consultation with Dr Shahidi in Sydney is required before any surgery is scheduled.
While some patients travel from other states, it is important to plan appropriately for all consultations, surgery, and follow-up.
• Pre-operative discussions may be conducted by phone in certain cases, but they do not replace the requirement for in-person assessment.
• Following surgery, you must remain in Sydney for at least 8–10 days for initial recovery and post-operative review.
• You will need someone to assist you during the early recovery period.
• Further follow-up appointments are typically required at 4–6 weeks and again at 4–6 months after surgery.

No. Payment plans are not offered through our clinic.
Some patients choose to explore external financing options independently. If you are considering this, we recommend comparing providers carefully and reviewing all terms and conditions before making any decision.

• A $1,000 deposit is required to secure your surgery date.
• The full balance of Dr Shahidi’s fee is due six weeks prior to the surgery.

Yes. Revision (secondary) rhinoplasty cases are individually assessed due to their complexity. Please contact our office to discuss your concerns and arrange an initial consultation. Dr Shahidi will evaluate your nasal structure, medical history, and previous surgical outcomes to determine whether further intervention may be appropriate.

Yes. All surgical procedures are performed by Dr Shahidi, a registered specialist ENT surgeon (Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery – MED0001167352), who holds Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He is directly responsible for all aspects of the procedure, including planning and operative care.

You must be 18 years or older to undergo rhinoplasty with Dr Shahidi. This aligns with regulatory requirements for cosmetic surgery in Australia. Patients under 18 are not eligible for this procedure.
